RPF PERSONNEL RESCUES LADY PASSENGER WITH HER CHILD FROM DEATH
The Railway Protection Force (RPF) plays a pro-active role in protecting the Railway property and providing security to the rail users. The human face of RPF became imminent many times in course of their discharge of duty. It is witnessed once again at Durgapur railway station on Tuesday (March 9, 2021) when it saved the life of a lady passenger along with her child, who was in a hurry to catch a train but had fallen down. The incident occurred on Tuesday at Durgapur Railway station when 02311 Netaji Express Special started to move from Platform No. 2 at midnight from Durgapur station and one lady passenger along with her child trying to catch the train, became disbalanced and was about to fall down in the gap between train and the platform.
Shri Julius Goswami, Constable, RPF, Durgapur was on duty on platform No.2 of Durgapur Railway station. Viewing the situation, the alert Julius without thinking about his own life, rushed towards the passengers and dragged them out from the gap of platform and train. No doubt the own life of RPF staff might have been endangered, but due to sincerity and his sense of responsibility, he did not think twice for himself and went ahead to save the life of the passenger. No injury of the passenger had been reported due to alertness and timely action of the said RPF staff.
It is stated that before the accident, Shri Goswami noticed that some passengers were trying to board a running train with their luggage. On seeing them, he repeatedly warned them not to board any running train. But despite his repeated warning they tried to board the running train resulting in the lady passenger with her child on the verge of falling down in between the gap of the train and the platform. Shri Goswami promptly dragged both of them out and averted a serious accident saving the life of the passengers.
